Imperial Group got its start with its first company, Imperial Recycling, in 1962 when founder Fred Weiss started a small scrap operation in the industrial corridor of Chicago. At Imperial Recycling's onset, Fred would pick up scrap from nearby manufacturing companies. Following in Fred's footsteps, his sons-in-law, Marc Spellman and David Kozin, grew the company by securing prominent accounts across the U.S. while entering new market segments and expanding operations. Today, ownership is extended to the third generation, and has grown from a single scrap operation to a nationally recognized, diversified metals group.
